Dayton model# 5U935 portable generator. I invested in a automatic standby generator, so this generator is no longer needed after years of dependable service. 7000-Watt continuous duty rated with 10,000-watt peak capacity. 14 HP Briggs & Stratton Vanguard Engine. Recoil start, plus electric start capability with any 12-volt automotive or tractor battery (not included). I added a quick connector plug with jumper cable clamps to make it simple to start it by just hooking it to whatever battery is convenient. I also modified the exhaust with an automotive muffler to try to make it run quieter. It's better than the factory muffler, but it's still quite loud. The generator is 30+ years old, but still running and generating power. It was used to power both sides of a 2-family duplex during power outages. Never had any issue keeping up with lights, heat, 2 well pumps, and microwave ovens. The only real flaw is the float style gas cap no longer works properly. Even with a full tank, the dial does not register accurately. Regular maintenance of oil changes, running dry after use, running every 2-3 months to keep everything fresh, new power capacitor replaced about 2-3 years ago when it stopped producing 240 volts. Has run fine since then.
*** Update - Just found the original receipt dated 7/5/96, so the generator is not quite 30 years old. ***
