Hello! My fiancé and I are currently undergoing a legal dispute with my landlords over the condition of my apartment due to frequent dangers, leaks, and overall hazardous conditions. The last straw happened this morning when water began to POUR into my living room through the ceiling and along the windows, accumulating water along the floor and causing damage to a lot of our personal belongings that we have had to throw away. It has been steadily flowing into the apartment for several hours and has been spreading to various parts of the room. I have contacted my lawyer and she is negotiating an early termination of our lease - I’m not sure how long it will take, but all I know is that we will need a place to go when it is done! We are looking for a 2-bedroom that will allow our cats, 1-bedroom is negotiable as we would need a bit of a bigger space since I cannot afford to pay for storage with all of my legal fees. As of right now, we do not have a security deposit saved due to our abrupt need to move, but depending on how long the proceedings take, I may be able to save up for one beforehand. I don’t mind if it’s an older building as long as that building is in GOOD AND LIVABLE CONDITION with functioning and safe appliances (normal expectations really). We are on a tight budget since we live on one income, so we’d prefer to pay no more than $700 for rent, heat and hot water included. I can pay electric separately if need be but I can’t afford anything higher than that. We plan to stay there for a few years and potentially start a family so if possible a decent neighborhood near a school or just an area safe to walk around in. I feel these are pretty reasonable expectations, as we have lived in a string of unsafe and neglected apartments and would really just like to stop moving around and settle in for a while. We are very reasonable people, however we do not take lightly to being taken advantage of. If we are treated with respect we will treat you with respect. I work very hard to be able to pay my bills so I just ask for some patience with me. We tend to stay out of everyone’s way and we’re usually very quiet.

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND I do not yet know when my early termination will take place - my attorney has been contacted and everything has been put in motion, but it may still take several weeks or even months. However, if I view your property and we make an agreement, I will be in frequent contact regarding the status of the negotiation. Please help!
