Carved from soapstone these monkeys are an interesting reminder of virtues we should aspire to exhibit!
The Three Wise Monkeys, a Japanese pictorial maxim, represent the principle of "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil," symbolized by monkeys covering their eyes, ears, and mouths, respectively. They are often interpreted as a symbol of prudence, avoiding negative behaviors, and maintaining a virtuous life.
The monkey on the left is covering its mouth, the middle monkey is covering its eyes, and the monkey on the right is covering its ears.
