Antique Octagonal JAPANESE LIDDED 8-sided BOX, Dragon Lid - $15

Found this piece among a number of other 'older items' in the family's old trunk.
The folks collected all sorts of 'treasures' over the years. Finally it's time to disperse another layer of their collection. :)
Could it be a 19th Century Antimony Box ?
It appears to be quite old with its 'antiqued patina'. The top is adorned with a wrapped dragon. Thought initially it was a couple types of metal...there is a flaking coating atop a seemingly cast metal structure. There is a copper color very evident on the box itself. SEE PHOTOS
Cannot find any stamp or signature on the base, though the one other found in research references "TE" in a triangle on the base.
The lid is ill fitting. Seems that if pushed on tight it could be difficult to put on or off.
