Another collectible found in the 'family trunk' where the folks added many items over the decades.
Early 20th Century Kohler GNK Singing Bird (GES) Gesch Made in Western Germany. Marked on underside of the bird. (see photos)
Köhler Tin Litho key wind bird wind-up singing mechanical bird. Very complex toy with amusing mechanics has the bird chirping, while it moves it's head back and forth, beak opens, wings flap up and down and the tail moves up and down also! All original and in non-working condition.
This toy been in storage for many years so hope to move to someone will enjoy it again. Price is comparably low as it is not in perfect condition. One foot is broken, the other is missing. Not sure where the wind up key is, but it's a standard size for old toys.
This fun bird came out with many others every Easter to join the bunnies, grass and overflowing baskets of candy covering the dining room table. It was a dream world we enjoyed in our 1960s youth. Glorious Easter Sunday mass (with the appropriate new dress and hat), followed by the inside Easter Egg hunt, fantastic Ham and Lamb dinner with Great Grandmas Slovak Cheese/Nut rolled Raised Cakes. WHAT MEMORIES!
