PA4 Locomotive by Norman E. Anderson and C.G. MacDermot. Hard cover with dust jacket and in great condition (c) 1978. A fascinating history of four PA units -- from their design and build for the Santa Fe in 1947, their purchase by the Delaware and Hudson, and their remanufacture by Morrison-Knudsen in 1974-75 for use in passenger service when they became the PA4s. They went on to be used by Amtrak for the "Adirondack" before being sold to the Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority for commuter service around Boston. Illustrated throughout with black and white photos that show the units in action over the years. Includes detailed technical information about the rebuild and comparisons with the PA-1. With map and decorative end papers. 127 pages.
