Hi everybody... the same knucklehead from last week about fixing video games... thanks to a lot of helpful advice from all the other gaming ninjas out there, I got a lot of my old consoles up and running - I even managed to fix my Super Scope (Thanks John and Charles!).
I have another question hopefully somebody out there can help out, this one involves my Sega Dreamcast. Ive diagnosed the problem, apparently its a fuse on the CPU board (labeled R1) its right next to the quarter sized battery on the chip that feeds out to the controller ports - from what I gather, its blown and needs to be replaced. I dont have a lot of experience resoldering CPU components, but Im not above trying! First of all, I need to get hold of either a 390mA picofuse or a 0.5a circuit fuse - replacing it is another story. I'd be really appreciative if somebody wants to get together and help me do this - like I said, I dont mind trying it myself, Im sure I'd save myself a lot of burns and mistakes if somebody could work along with me and show me how to do it. Im certain I could just find a replacement console for cheap and much less hassle, but Im more of a "teach a man to fish" kind of guy - the knowledge would probably prove handy elsewhere in life too.
Again... the car is off the road so Im really limited in my ability to travel, if you dont mind coming over to my place off Lark St, I could maybe teach you a song on guitar or show you how to do something I know... I could get a few beers or make dinner, whatever youre into. Im not screwing around with massages or other weird stuff - Im a pretty straight up dude - I'd appreciate responses from the same.
Thanks!
