Everywhere we turn, we see children in need. More than anything, children need caring mentors who are willing to share their guidance, maturity, and patience. Compeer for Kids offers volunteers the opportunity to change the lives of children ages 7-12 who are living with social or emotional challenges. Compeer for Kids has an after school program where children receive help with homework, have a daily meeting, eat a nutritious snack, and participate in activities ranging from arts and crafts to assertiveness building skills to monthly trips. Compeer for Kids offers children the opportunity to express themselves positively and in a constructive manner with empathetic staff and volunteer support. Volunteers can visit during the program hours and interact with children as well as participate in “1 to 1 Match” activities where the volunteer spends 4 hours a month with a child and takes them into the community to socially interact by going to the movies, out for ice cream, to the museum, and more! Our children benefit from caring volunteer mentors and live better lives as a result, all thanks to you! All volunteers are required to pass the NYS Child Abuse Registry Database check.
