I don't think conservatives mind having an honest independent moderate Democrat like Owens serving for the a year or so, it certainly doesn't change the make up of the House of Representatives much. Democrats can't pass shit as it is with majority control. Most conservatives chose principles over party and can live with this minor "loss" if you can even call it that.
