Cover band seeking a new guitarist. We are a singer, drummer and bass player who have been playing together on and off for nearly fifteen years. We have recently reformed and lost our guitar player. We have a near complete set list and are on the verge of booking shows and are looking for someone to fill the void and add input to the band and our catalog. We cover bands spanning from All American Rejects, Fall Out Boy, Alice InChains, Twisted Sister, Disturbed, Metallica, Rage Against the Machine, and much more.

This band has had a lot of success in the past and can be an excellent source of extra income.

a guitarist (two would be great if you have an extra laying around) who can play just about anything and won't break his arm patting himself on the back.
a drummer who can play in time and make it to practice relatively on time without bringing his girlfriend.
a bassist who grooves.
a keyboard player This one is optional but would really help to fill out the sound when one of the guitarists goes to take a piss or the dummer falls off of his throne.

Please make sure the above items don't have egos that are bigger than their equipment.

I'm not asking for much and I'll even play guitar if I have to but I really want a shiny new band.

Seriously, I want to put together a kick ass, heavy, progtastic, metalistic, face-peeling band.

My influences - Maiden, Rush, Symphony X, Marillion, Evergrey, pre-sellout Metallica, Coheed (and Cambria too), Yes, Genesis, Dream Theater, Peter Gabriel, Pain of Salvation, Opeth, Mozart, a bunch of other really good bands and life.

I'm not a one of those death-burp-n-gurgle-ajax-gargling-glass-eating-sand-chewing "singers" but when I am singing regularly I have a pretty wide range and I want to use all of my voice so the music has to have room for that. I can rough it up if I have to but that's not all I want to do.

Have had a classic Prog project that is at Tribute level. we're covering mainly YES and a mix of Genesis Pink Floyd UK Rush King Crimson Gentle Giant even a Led Zeppelin tune. We have lost our Keyboardist to unforseen circumstances and this has the rest of this band on hold. We had just begun some originals work but planned on debuting ourselves next summer at a few Prog Festivals.

Three part harmonies still in place. Lead guitar who is the best there is is ready and waiting need I say more? and second guitar with lead vocals that can compare to Jon Anderson and Geddy Lee and even Peter Gabriel and Bob Plant when needed. Bruford Style Drums excellent lead vocal quality harmony vocals and Squire, Wetton bass chops with equally impressive vocals to match. No boasting if you don't beleive it contact us and see. PA is part of this group as a 6th member (counting you....) experienced Sound Tech and enough crown power and subs to blow the roof off. We all travel distances to practice and would expect that of you as well, but this will come together quickly if your the right guy because we are already half way there or more as we stand today. this is upstate/central NY area not like we are all across the country. Email for details and a time to meet, Have a Hammond and Leslie availble for fun or stage as well.

We hope to become the be all end all classic prog tribute band to see but need some amazing keys for work like, Close to the Edge, Sound Chaser or Firth of Fifth, South Side of the Sky, Alaska etc. and all the rest of the YES and...well if your into this you know the list. Nothing but the best of this genre and every song moves and shakes and would make most any real musician proud to hear it being done at this level. I have not really used this form of musician want ads before is there any other place that I might get in contact with a musician of this caliber to help us in this area? Thanks and contact ASAP if you are the guy we need.

This opportunity will never come again in these parts if you happen to be a great prog keyboardist. Please help us with this if you know someone who would be interested but may not get this posting. This music is so specialized now it is very very hard to find musicians to this work anymore and we could use some help.

Northern Lights BS $ crap bands (518)

This seems to be the norm for Northern Lights and a few other clubs. The Chance does this practice but perhaps differently. The whole premise is this: So you want to open for a national act eh? Then you sell all these tickets and we pay you with nothing but a little exposure and maybe a PBR or two. What I high price for exposure! I myself have opened for at least a dozen major label acts and we were HAND CHOSEN because we were GOOD....period (not a brag, just the facts m'am). I went to N. Lights last week for the 17 local band Rat-A-Tattoo all day "Clueless Musicians Fest" , what an awful display of non talent...really sickening the pure lack of talent, one band had no drummer (and overpowered by backing tracks) and a guitarist on lesson #3 at best. I know for a fact that these bands had to sell tickets as well and the sound SUCKED! I had to leave and puke after the 6th band. C'mon Capitol District, we can do better than this! At least we used to be able to in the late 80's-early 90's. Thanks Nirvana

What you are telling us is your lack of business sense must be more than made up for by your wonderful musicianship. You must be a legend in your own mind.

This type of deal comes down to one fundamental thing, everything else is a zero sum game. The fundamental thing is who takes the business risk for people not showing up to a gig. You see if you're such a great band and a club owner gives you a guaranteed price then the club owner is taking all the risk for people not showing up, but he also gets all the upside if the turnout is better than expected, the band doesn't they only get the guaranteed rate.

In this type of arrangement, the situation is reversed, the club owner is getting paid the guaranteed flat rate and the bands are taking all the risk or reward based on the turnout. So your needless hyperventilation and your ad hominem BS just show that you have absolutely no clue how the business end of music works. Do you even know how to work a spreadsheet?? Maybe you should try that sometime. The actual musicianship is only one dimension of the many required to be successful.

The club is not making $1000 off of you, the club has a boat load of overhead just to open the door so you can play (Employees, mortgage, inventory, utilities, insurance ascap and on and on). So again I say get a clue, it all boils down to which party is taking the turnout risk.

Professional musician of 7 years( 5 of which as a recording and touring artist), now accepting students that would like to enroll in private lessons.
I teach each player individually, and work at the students own pace, to ensure that each student gets the most out of each lesson. I personally pride myself in taking beginners, and turning them into more than competent players. I have been teaching for nearly 5 years, and have a flourishing performance resume, as well as countless students.
In my program, I will teach the basics of either instrument, ensuring a good structural foundation for each student. Once the basics have been taught to the student, I will move onto harder concepts that combine many basic elements, and will help each student develop his or her own own personal style. I also expose every student to an array of artists and songs, so the student will know a great deal of standards, as well as information on how to maintain his or her preferred instrument, and I also slip in some music history in my lessons.

My prices are $20/half hour, $30/hour. I am also offering a holiday deal, if the student pays upfront for a months worth of hour lessons(4 lessons), then I take $5 off each lesson, making the total fee for four lessons only $100, instead of $120. Hey guys... been a while since Ive visited this page, its helped me out quite a bit before. Heres my gig - Ive been getting into a lot of old Clutch songs lately, they use a lot of cool off key accents in their rhythm and I just flat out think their music is rock solid! Theres one song of theirs I havent been able to find and lord knows I cant find the name of it anywhere. The song is about a community of workers called the Soulmakers, some of the lyrics are "...heard a fiddle and a mandolin - keepin rhythm on an old washboard and stompin' twos and fours" "caroling about days of old and what the future told" "I asked a toothless man who all these people were and - he said the soul makers, and they are workin' workin" ...anybody know that song? I got hold of it back when people were first starting to compress songs and share them online, maybe 99 or 2000? My freind Bernie from Kintz burned it for me (if youre out there, gimme a yell!) Im assuming its a rare track 'cause I cant find it anywhere? I still have the copy he gave me, but its scratched to bejesus and back... Id love it if somebody out there knows what song Im talking about. Its one of those riffs that finds its way into my head at least once a day, and even more than getting another copy of it - I want to find the tab so I can figure out how to play it. I have a rough idea how it goes but I dont know their intervals well enough yet to figure out what gives it all the grit, y'know.

Three piece rock band looking for a talented, young singer.

Singer should have his roots in the blues and rock n roll, and should be well versed in funk, R'n'B, jazz, and anything else that is really good.
This band is very eclectic, but the nucleus of our sound is a very powerful riff based approach, drivin by a tight rhythm section, and a guitar player that is so fucking good, so fucking original that...well, you'll just have to see it for yourself. Ideally, we would want someone that is a screamer(i.e. Robert Plant, Ian Gillian, Steven Tyler, Paul Rogers(Free-era Rogers...Bad Co. is good and all, but Free will forever surpass them)). But everyone knows that a mid seventies british-blues rock'n'roll singer is really just a white boy singing(a-hem, screaming) R'n'B, so somebody who can sing R'n'B(if you think of "Bump and Grind" by R.Kelly when u think of R'n'B, this may not be the band for you) is much appreciated. Funk vocalists, and Jazz vocalists are also fair game. Emo/Hardcore/Fagcore/Girlspants-core/jam band kids/DMB lovers need not apply. We are about Rocking AND Rolling. Not crashing into you, and slitting our wrists.
Ages 18-25. Applicants a little older will be cut slack, just as long as you aren't some middle aged fuck-wad having a mid-life crisis or some shit, like most of these fucks on this site.

Hi Musicians........Relocated to the capitol region a few years ago and thought I could stay retired from this business, but, the itch to play out has again started. I still head to the north country and play frequently , but , would rather stay here and do a couple gigs a month making a few new friends along the way. So, about me.....46 yo ( yup old guy) currently playing fingerstyle guitar, solo gigs, and the occasional band reunion type gigs. Sing.....play harmonica and know enough songs to get through a few nights without a repeat.....Comfortable up front , but , would rather share this with someone else. We are a 5 man touring a cappella group that generally performs at schools, anyone from elementary schools to colleges. We are currently looking for two pieces to fit our sound. We have Vocal Percussion and the tenor positions hammered out, so we're looking for any bass, baritone or tenor 1 out there. We make good money and get to perform at some pretty cool shows. Here's what we're looking for:

-Experience in this style of music? No. You really just need to be able to sing and take direction and legitimately enjoy music
-Commitment to our touring schedule. It's nothing too crazy right now. anywhere from 2 to 5 days out with at least 2 days in between trips. We have a few alternates in line if needed, but we really want to build our sound with regular members

Long story short, we lost our bass player and guitar player (who was the main singer). We always practiced at our bass player's house and don't have a place to practice either. We're looking for a bass player and one or two guitar players for some general rock music. The exact genre I think would be better left to see how we all work together.
